Aromasin ( Exemestane ) is a medicine used to treat breast cancer. It belongs to a class of antiestrogens known as aromatase inhibitors. Some breast cancers require estrogen to grow.
Exemestane is an oral steroid aromatase inhibitor used in the adjuvant treatment of hormone-sensitive (also called hormone-receptor-positive, estrogen-sensitive) breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It binds irreversibly to the active site of the enzyme, resulting in permanent inhibition.
