Indications:
Mebendazole is used to treat intestinal worm infections such as whipworm, round worm, pinworm and hook worm. Other infections caused by more than one kind of worm are also treated with Mebendazole. This medication may be prescribed for other uses, ask the doctor for more information.
How to take:
Take Mebendazole as directed by the doctor. It may by swallowed, chewed, crushed, or mixed with food. Finish the dose that is prescribed by the doctor. Worms will be removed from the stomach and intestine up to 3 days after treatment of Mebendazole. A second treatment may be necessary if the infection has not been cured within 3 weeks. Precautions:
Before using Mebendazole, inform doctor of medical history specifically anemia, liver disease, malnutrition and allergies. For pregnant and lactating women, consult the doctor before using Mebendazole as it is known to be excreted in breast milk. It is also essential to treat other contacts such as family members as these worms spread very easily. In order to prevent re-infection, toilets, clothing, linens, and towels must be disinfected daily.
